I didn’t really take to Night Panther’s previous single ‘Fever’ but I’m really liking their new track, ‘Fire’. It reminds me of Local Natives in a way. Stream and download below.
Thankfully it didn’t take that long for the new Destiny’s Child single to arrive. Just a day after Beyoncé’s announcement the band would release ‘Nuclear’, their first single in eight years, the song is now streaming online. The track was produced by Pharrell and Beyoncé and it will appear on the groups new career spanning compilation Love Songs, due January 29.
When Hurricane Sandy hit New York last November, Jens Lekman’s pianist Jonas found himself stranded with no way to catch a flight from Boston in order to make the bands west coast tour in time. Lekman reached out via Twitter and asked if anyone could help Jonas get to Boston where he could catch a flight. Two girls, Oliva and Maddy, stood up and helped out. In return, as well as offering them cash, Lekman promised he would write them a song. Sticking true to his word Lekman has now shared his new song…’Olivia & Maddy’. What a great guy.
Tampa, Florida-based post-punk outfit Merchandise are back with a new song entitled ‘Anxietys’s Door.’ It’s set to appear on their upcoming Totale Nite EP, which is due out this Spring.
Instantly, you can feel the heavy Joy Division/Smiths influence all over ‘Anxietys’s Door’, but while saying that, it is still quite hard to actually pin down this bands sound/genre. It’s a pretty good track, and frontman Carson Cox’s vocals sound brilliant on it, but it’ll be very interesting to hear the rest of the EP.
It’s been two years since we last heard anything new from Javelin. They’re back with their first album since 2010’s No Mas. The album is called Hi Beams and it drops March 5. Stream their new single ‘Nnormal’ below.
It’s been reported that Azealia Banks has been dropped by her record label, following a series of Twitter rows this week. The rapper has been feuding with Angel Haze and Perez Hilton all week. It’s rumoured she has parted ways with Interscope records. Her debut album Broke with Expensive Taste, was scheduled to be released in February. In fairness some of her comments towards Perez Hilton (he gives as good as he takes) were pretty bad. Banks referred to Hilton many times as a “F****t” and she didn’t do herself any further favours with comments like “A f***** is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference.” She was soon forced to apologise for her comments but will that be enough for Banks who has a ridiculous history of Twitter fights in such a short period of time.
I’m really liking this new Blessa track. ‘Unfurl’ is the title of the Sheffield-based bands new track and it’s another laid back reminder of 80’s pop.
New Orleans-based duo Generationals have announced they are putting out their third album Heza on April 2. Their latest single, ‘Spinoza’, is a brilliant slice of upbeat and infectious surf-pop that you’ll find hard not to resist. Instantly it reminded me of other great bands like Phoenix, The Shins and Beach Fossils. The melodies here are reminiscent of those found on Oh, Inverted World, which is never ever a bad thing! I generally either like or dislike a song depending on it’s first twenty seconds. I was hooked after the first ten on ‘Spinoza’.
For those of you who were a fan of Torres’ previous single, the outstanding ‘Honey‘, you’ll be happy to know she has just released another new track called ‘Mother Earth, Father God’. Torres’ debut album is set to drop January 22, and it’s already one of my most anticipated of 2013.
