London-based duo Ben Walker and Patrick Wanzala-Ryan, aka Laces, are now streaming debut Beachcombers EP. Patrick was kind enough to send me an early copy of the 5-song EP and I have been playing it quite a bit since. These guys have a really cool style of music that mixes acoustic guitars with atmospheric ambience and this EP just sounds great.
Laces released Beachcombers EP on Friday via Button Hook Recordings. Download it on their Bandcamp.

Following his mesmerising collaboration with Foxes In Fiction on ‘Ground Glass‘, Benoît Pioulard has dropped the first release from his forthcoming LP Hymnal. I’ve long been a fan of the way multi-instrumentalist Thomas Meluch experiments with folk music while adding elements of shoegaze and ambient to his unique recordings. Have a listen to ‘Margin’ below.
Paris-based 18 year old Dream Koala recently made a few waves by playing the London Boiler Room with Flume, and he’s now dropped a new tune called ‘Ocean’. It’s a dreamy and melodic track with some really hypnotic vocal arrangements. Very promising stuff. Stream and download below.
FI/SHE/S are a Paris-based indie pop outfit with a really, really catchy new tune out called ‘A Drive To The Psychos’ that sounds like Grizzly Bear teamed up with Empire Of The Sun to create something really different. Everything bar the kitchen sink is in this one. Check it out.
Baltimore-based sextet Secret Mountains‘ Jeffrey Lewis Silverstein kindly sent me his bands latest offering ”High Horse’ to see what I made of it. Little did he know I had their previous track ‘Coasting’ playing on repeat all last week so when he got in touch with me I was pretty excited. The band will drop their debut album Rainer via Friends Records on February 26, and if the rest of the album is anywhere near the standard of ‘Coasting’ and in particular the stunning ‘High Horse’ then we’re in for a real treat. Clocking in at just under five minutes, ‘High Horse’ is a beautifully written track with some of the most gorgeous vocals I’ve heard in quite a while courtesy of Kelly Laughlin. The riff running throughout the track, which they struggled finding the best way to record, sounds awesome too. Make sure you check this one out.
New York-based electronic pop duo MS MR drop their eagerly awaited debut album Second Hand Rapture this May. ‘Fantasy’ is the album’s second single, and it’s an absolute rush of infectious melodies, pounding anthemic drums and vocals that demand your attention.
