Tyler, The Creator drops his new LP Wolf, which has three covers, on April 2 through Odd Future Records. Tyler just shared the first cut from the album with the video for Domo 23. The video features Tyler and Domo Genesis wrestling, while Earl Sweatshirt is the referee. As you can imagine, it’s pretty nuts. The song splits on the 3:36 mark into a track called Brimmer, which features Frank Ocean.
Portland Oregon-based Wampire have just shared new tune The Hearse, and it’s proving to be irresistibly catchy. For some strange reason, I didn’t think I was going to like this track, but I’ve now played it about seven times over. The bass playing on this track is nuts.
Their debut album Curiosity is out May via Polyvinyl.
Most of music The Strokes have released over the past couple of years have divided opinion, and that was certainly the case with their previous single One Way Trigger (which is still growing on me). The latest offering from their forthcoming LP Comedown Machine is All The Time, and the band are going back to basics it seems. The song will serve as the official first single from Comedown Machine, and it isn’t half bad.
Japanese singer/composer Cokiyu‘s latest project sees her collaborating with Los-Angeles based beatmaker Will Wiesenfeld, aka Baths, on a new track entitled Twinkle Way. This is a simply gorgeous duet with both musicians complementing one another perfectly. Baths production never once over powers Cokiyu’s airy vocals and it’s a thoroughly stunning track.
If you’re a fan of eccentric, baroque-pop then I suggest you take the time to introduce yourself to Jacco Gardner, and in particular his new single ‘The Ballad Of Little.’ Apparently, every sound you hear on this track was recorded and produced by this 24-year-old Dutch multi-instrumentalist.
Here’s a brand new track from Austin’s Pure X, taken from the groups forthcoming new LP Crawling Up the Stairs, the follow-up to 2011’s Pleasure. I’ve been a fan of Pure X ever since I heard ‘Easy’ back in 2009 and their new track ‘Things In My Head’ hasn’t disappointed.
New York dance-punk outfit !!! drop their excellently titled new LP THR!!!ER on April 30th. Today the band shared ‘Slyd’, the albums first single and it’s without doubt one of the funkiest dance tracks they’ve released to date. We’re going to be hearing this one a lot over the year!
THR!!!ER drops April 30 through Warp Records, and you can pre-order it through Bleep.
On April 9 Philadelphia singer-songwriter Kurt Vile will release Wakin on a Pretty Daze, his fifth full-length LP and the follow up to 2011’s Smoke Ring For My Halo. ‘Wakin on a Pretty Day,’ the albums gorgeously chilled out opener, is now available to stream. The track clocks-in at just under ten minutes in length, but in no way does it drag out. Instead, it seems to just float along, effortlessly on some breezy warm vibes and smooth, laid back vocals. It actually feels a lot shorter than it is. Throughout the song there’s some excellent guitar playing but keep an ear out for the badass solo towards the end.
