Tampa, Florida post-punk outfit Merchandise have announced the eagerly-awaited follow-up their critically acclaimed 2014 record, After The End. The forthcoming record is titled A Corpse Wired for Sound, and it’s out September 23 on 4AD.
This week, the group previewed their new single End of the Week, a track which frontman Carson Cox says is “really about personal reflection and horror”. The song follows the previously shared Flower Of Sex.
The album’s title was inspired by a JG Ballard short story. “It’s about the truth of growing up,” Carson Cox said of the record. “You can’t take your friends or lovers with you. It’s about finding peace with that loneliness.”
